What assistants can do#
| Ability | How it runs |
|---|---|
| List and read mail | Reads on its own |
| Create drafts (nothing is sent) | Reads on its own |
| Send a draft | Waits for your Approve |
Setup (when it opens)#
- In Microsoft's admin portal, register an app with mail permissions and create a secret for it. Copy the access token or secret details it gives you.
- Open Integrations and pick Outlook.
- Paste the token and press Connect.
- Leave sending off until you want it.
Permissions#
In plain words, the app needs to:
- Read mail in the mailbox.
- Create drafts in that mailbox.
- Send mail, only if you will allow sending.
Your Microsoft administrator may need to approve these permissions first.
Good to know#
- Sending is off by default, and every send waits for your Approve. See approvals.
- Outlook covers mail only. Microsoft Teams is not connected yet; see Microsoft Teams.
- Your token stays with your StellarFirm workspace and is never shown back to you. The page shows only that it is connected.
- Drafts appear in Outlook's own Drafts folder.
Prompts#
PromptDraft a reply Marketing, draft a reply to the latest customer mail and leave it as an Outlook draft. Do not send until I Approve.
PromptFind invoices Accountant, find mail from this month that contains an invoice and list the sender, the date, and the amount due.
