# Stripe

> Let your Accountant assistant read customers, subscriptions, and charges in Stripe. Creating a charge always waits for your Approve. Coming soon.

Status: Coming soon

Stripe is where many companies take payments. Once you connect it, your assistants can read your customers, subscriptions, and charges to answer questions and prepare reports. Anything that moves money stops at your Approve.

> [!SOON]
> The Stripe integration is Coming soon. This page describes how it will work. The integrations open at launch are GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket.

## Which assistants use it

| Assistant | Status |
| --- | --- |
| [Accountant](/docs/personas/accountant) | Coming soon |

The Accountant is the persona that works with payments. It is Coming soon, as are all personas except the Coder.

## What assistants can do

| Ability | How it runs |
| --- | --- |
| List customers | Reads on its own |
| List subscriptions | Reads on its own |
| List charges | Reads on its own |
| Create a charge | Always waits for your Approve |

## Setup (when it opens)

1. In Stripe, open the developer area and create a restricted access token.
2. Give it read permission for customers, subscriptions, and charges. Leave every other permission off.
3. Open [Integrations](https://stellarfirm.ai/app/integrations) in StellarFirm.
4. Pick Stripe.
5. Paste the restricted access token.
6. Press Connect.

A restricted access token with read permission is enough for every ability except creating a charge. If you never want a charge created, never give the token write permission.

## Permissions

- Reading customers, subscriptions, and charges happens on its own.
- Creating a charge always waits for your Approve. Charging someone is a step you should always see first, so it does not depend on your Auto-approve choices in Settings.
- [Approvals](/docs/ceo/approvals) explains how the request reaches you and what you see before you answer.

## Good to know

- Start with a read-only token. You can see how useful the Accountant is with reads alone, and nothing can be charged by mistake.
- The token is saved in your StellarFirm workspace and is never shown again. To cut access, delete or roll the token in Stripe.
- Ask for sums and groupings in plain language. The assistant reads the records and works the figures out itself, so say which period you mean.

## Prompts to try

```prompt title="Review this month's charges"
Accountant, list this month's charges and my active subscriptions. Group them by customer and flag anything unusual. Read only.
```

```prompt title="Find a customer"
Accountant, find the customer with the email [email] and tell me their subscriptions and their recent charges. Read only.
```

```prompt title="Prepare a monthly summary"
Accountant, prepare a short summary of this month's payments for my accounting notes. Do not create any charge.
```
